Two jailed for life for man's revenge murder

Two men who were found guilty of stabbing to death another man to "settle a score" after an argument have been jailed for life.

Alga Lutondo, 33, and Halgon Randon, 44, both from Harehills, Leeds, trawled their neighbourhood on bikes to look for Daneiko Ferguson on 15 February last year.

Mr Ferguson, 27, was then stabbed five times on Compton Road before he was found by a passing taxi driver and taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

Following their trial at Leeds Crown Court, Lutondo was given a life sentence with a minimum term of 28 years, while Randon was given a life sentence with a minimum of 26 years.

Lutondo, of Berkeley Crescent, Harehills, and Randon, of Brown Hill Terrace, Harehills, had earlier argued with Mr Ferguson at an address in Cowper Terrace earlier on the evening of 15 February 2023, according to West Yorkshire Police.

A number of suspects were arrested over the following days, including Lutondo, who was arrested at Heathrow Airport as he tried to leave the country.

Both Lutondo and Randon were subsequently charged with murder.

Following the pair's sentencing, Det Ch Insp Damian Roebuck said: “Daneiko’s family are understandably devastated that he has been taken from them in such violent and unnecessary circumstances.

"Regardless of the apparent background to the attack on him, there can be absolutely no justification for brutally taking someone’s life like this."

Det Ch Insp Roebuck said Lutondo and Randon were "clearly dangerous individuals who were prepared to use extreme violence to settle a score without any consideration for the consequences".

“We hope their convictions and imprisonment for Daneiko’s murder will give at least some small measure of comfort to his family as they continue to deal with the pain and heartbreak they are going through," he added.

Mr Ferguson's mother, Hazel Clamp, said his death had left his 10-year-old daughter, as well as his family and friends, "heartbroken beyond belief".

"The loss of a child causes immeasurable pain, suffering, guilt, and constant panic attacks, which never goes away," she said.

"The impact this has had on the family as a whole can be seen daily. We have no enjoyment anymore. We just live to exist."
