Uddingston homes 'targeted' by gang dressed in dark clothing in vandalism raids after man attacked

A man was attacked inside a home when a gang went on a vandalism rampage.

Police Scotland are hunting for five men after two addresses in South Lanarkshire were "targeted".

The gang first entered a house in Bent Crescent, Uddingston, at around 6.30pm on Wednesday and assaulted a 27-year-old man inside.

The invaders also vandalised the property and a car parked outside before fleeing in a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf.

Police Scotland said the victim was taken to hospital and released after treatment.

A short time later, it's thought the same men then broke into a home on nearby Alexander Avenue in a second raid and vandalised the property and a car parked outside.

The suspects were all wearing dark clothing and investigating officers believe the offences are targeted and linked.

Detective Constable Stephen Rose said: "We are linking these two incidents and we believe these addresses were targeted, however we are appealing for any information that may assist our investigation.

"This is a busy area and I would appeal to anyone who was in the Viewpark area on Wednesday evening and noticed a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf, or anything suspicious to contact us.

"I would also ask people to check their dashcam, doorbell or any personal footage."
