A man in Leicester, England, was ordered to pay a fine and other fees after pleading guilty to racially harassing an Asian man who called him “tubby.”

What happened: Ross Everett, 26, was on his way out of a nightclub in Leicester City Centre in the early morning hours of Oct. 29, 2023, when he got into an argument with the Asian man, according to the Leicester Mercury. A police officer passing by reportedly witnessed the incident.

The victim called Everett “tubby,” according to the prosecution. In response, he lashed out with racism.

“Look at me, I’m British. You’re not white and you need to **** off,” Everett told the victim, adding “You lot aren’t allowed to make up the rules.”

"He took offence to being called fat. He has a problem with his weight," Richard Jennings, representing Everett, told the court.

"His mother, who sits at the back of the court, is bitterly disappointed with him. He is sorry to have embarrassed her."
