Organisers of a triathlon in Jersey are urging members of the public to volunteer as marshals to "ensure a safe, smooth-running event".

The Accuro Jersey Triathlon, which takes place on Sunday, will involve about 400 competitors taking part in a swim, bike and run starting and ending at Les Jardins De La Mer.

The event raises funds for charity Brighter Futures as well as individual charities close to participants' hearts.

Organisers said the event "would not be able to operate" without the "valued support" of course marshals.

No previous experience is required for volunteers as "full instructions are provided", organisers said.

They added: "Just be willing to offer between two to four hours on the morning of Sunday 7 July.

"Every volunteer will be given a high-vis vest and a briefing on the day from their section leader."

Volunteers must be 18 or over on the day of the race, or under the supervision of a leader who is over 18, to assist.
