US drops international detention request for 14 Iranians

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department said on Saturday it had dropped an international request to detain 14 Iranians on trade violations and dismissed charges against them as diplomats prepared to lift sanctions against Iran. "The United States ... removed any Interpol red notices and dismissed any charges against 14 Iranians for whom it was assessed that extradition requests were unlikely to be successful," the State Department said.
