US Embassy Workers in Australia Dance the Nutbush for Tina Turner

Staff at the US Embassy in Australia danced in tribute to music legend Tina Turner, who died on Wednesday, May 24.

Video posted on Thursday shows US Embassy workers in Australia dancing the Nutbush, named for Turner’s 1973 hit “Nutbush City Limits.”

Footage posted the night before from the Marine Corps Ball shows ambassadors practicing the dance.

The embassy called the Nutbush “Australia’s unofficial national dance.” According to reports, the country has a “strange love affair” with the dance, which is called a “staple” at Australian weddings and parties.

“Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock and Roll, was a once-in-a-generation talent that changed American music and the Australian dance scene forever,” the embassy wrote on Twitter following the news of Turner’s death. Credit: US Embassy Australia via Storyful
