US Open 2024: Tee times UK, odds, field, course and preview with Scottie Scheffler favourite at Pinehurst

The US Open gets underway today, with Scottie Scheffler the firm favourite to win another major title at Pinehurst.

The world No1 picked up his fifth victory of the season on Sunday as he proved too strong for the field at the Memorial Tournament, despite being far from his best for much of the final round.

That is ominous for the rest of the golf world, with Scheffler now having five wins in his last eight starts ahead of the third major of the season.

Wyndham Clark arrives at Pinehurst as defending champion, but has struggled for form in recent weeks, while 2021 US Open winner Jon Rahm has disappointed in both majors so far this year and withdrew due to a foot problem.

Rory McIlroy could not end his decade-long major drought at Valhalla last month, when Xander Schauffele won the PGA Championship, but he has five consecutive top-ten finishes at the US Open ahead of his latest attempt to lift one of golf’s biggest prizes.

Tiger Woods is once again in the field, making only his fourth start of the season. He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational, finished 60th at the Masters and then missed the cut at the PGA Championship.

When is the US Open 2024?

The 2024 US Open begins today on Thursday, June 13 and runs through to Sunday, June 16.

This year’s tournament will be played at Pinehurst's No2 course in North Carolina. Pinehurst hosted the Ryder Cup in 1951 and this will be the fourth time it stages the US Open.

The major was last played at the course a decade ago, when Martin Kaymer was a sensational wire-to-wire winner, finishing eight shots clear of Rickie Fowler and Eric Compton in second.
