This Is Us star Sterling K Brown pays tribute to late co-star Ron Cephas Jones
This is Us actor Sterling K. Brown has paid tribute to co-star Ron Cephas Jones, saying the late actor lived “to the fullest.”
Jones, who played William Hill on the NBC drama, passed away in August at the age of 66 due to a long-standing pulmonary issue.
Brown, who starred as Randall Pearson in all six seasons of the show, paid tribute to the late actor in an interview with Variety, detailing Jones’ unwavering devotion to the craft in a heartfelt piece.

“One of the last things that he got to do before he ultimately passed away is he got to go on Broadway, and he got nominated for a Tony,” Brown said of his late co-star. “It may not have been Lear, but he was somebody who had a vision of how he wanted his career and life to go.
“He was able to take chances and, while we don’t have him, he probably gave himself several more years that he wouldn’t have had. He lived to the fullest. The fullest version of his life until he was with us no more.
“Some of us are just existing, and not all of us are really living. In the words of [The Shawshank Redemption character] Andy Dufresne, ‘You either get busy living or get busy dying.’ Ron lived to the end.”

Upon Jones’ passing in August, several of his co-stars posted tributes to the actor, with Susan Kelechi Watson (Beth Pearson) writing: “What a blessing in this life to have a friend called You. You LOVED being an actor, an artist, a forever student of life.
“But I knew you to love nothing more than [daughter] Jasmine. My heart goes out to you @jazzy_joness. You were the music to his soul. His Jaz. His jazz. His jazz.”
