Usher is getting more of his well-deserved flowers this year.

The eight-time Grammy-winning R&B icon, 45, will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, June 30, the network announced on Thursday.

The coveted award, which has previously gone to music legends like Prince, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Lionel Richie and many others, salutes “special achievements and distinguished public service” among industry trailblazers “who have powerfully shifted culture and the entertainment industry,” according to a press release. This year, Usher has the pleasure of joining his fellow recipients as BET celebrates his “ever-growing musical legacy.”

“The relationship between BET and Usher spans decades, from his multiple appearances on 106 & Park, to most recently winning the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 55th NAACP Image Awards,” Connie Orlando, BET EVP, Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, said in a press statement. “From his chart-topping hits, electrifying performances and unforgettable vocals to his signature moves and sound, Usher continues to stand on culture, setting new standards for the music industry and Black excellence. We look forward to creating an amazing lineup to pay tribute to our global icon.”

A roster of surprise guests, who will be announced at a later date, will take the stage during “culture’s biggest night” to celebrate Usher’s defining artistry. Already-announced performers for the night include GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey and Victoria Monét.

In addition to his Lifetime Achievement Award, Usher is also nominated for four BET Awards this year, including album of the year (Coming Home), best male R&B/pop artist and best collaboration and best video (“Good Good” feat. Summer Walker and 21 Savage).

The legendary singer’s latest honor follows a tremendous ongoing run in 2024 that includes his record-breaking Super Bowl halftime headlining performance, the release of his ninth studio album, Coming Home, the 20th anniversary of his diamond-certified Confessions album, and the announcement of his upcoming Past Present Future tour — all of which come after his ultra-successful Las Vegas residency that concluded in December.

In February, just ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, Usher also married his longtime girlfriend, music executive Jennifer Goicoechea, in a fitting Las Vegas drive-thru ceremony. The “Superstar” icon reflected on the special moment with PEOPLE earlier this year, saying, “Listen, when you find someone that you know is a great partner, of course, it is an honor and a pleasure to be able to share life with that someone who wants to share it with you, and who loves you for who you are.”

Usher also opened up about the tough challenges he’s endured on his decades-long music journey, admitting that he once considered quitting the business altogether before embarking on a soul-searching trip in 2018.

“I just felt the lack of support and it was a bit stifling because I was still putting the same amount of effort into trying to create things that I felt would be celebrated,” the singer shared. “It was a moment of true consideration, like ‘Is it time to hang it up? Am I good enough? Is it time for me to stop?’”

However, as he navigates another accolades-filled career era, the king of R&B is more sure of himself than ever. “This is a moment that represents true belief that something magical can happen when you believe in yourself,” Usher added. “This is a moment of celebration.”

The 2024 BET Awards airs on June 30 at 8 p.m. ET/ PT live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
