Unfortunately for VALORANT fans in the Philippines, there will be no Filipino representative at the upcoming VALORANT Champions 2022.

Though the team tried their best, Team Secret’s run in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Asia-Pacific Last Chance Qualifier (APAC LCQ) unfortunately came to an abrupt end on Saturday (Aug 6) after a 1-2 loss to Indonesia’s ONIC G in the lower bracket semifinals.

Standing as the lone Filipino team in the APAC LCQ, Team Secret started off the qualifiers strong and hopeful, beating Thailand’s Made in Thailand with a 2-1 victory during the upper bracket quarterfinals.

Unfortunately, their celebration was quickly cut short by a 0-2 sweep against Singapore’s Bleed Esports during the upper bracket semis.

Team Secret managed to catch their second wind by beating Australian squad ORDER 2-1 during the third round of the lower bracket.

But just as the Filipinos were starting to recover, their LCQ journey was cut short after being overwhelmed with a 1-2 defeat against ONIC G.

During the three-map series, Team Secret kept things close, as all games ended with a 13-11 score. ONIC G took game one in Fracture before Team Secret forced a decider by winning game two in Haven.

ONIC G held the lead at 7-5 after the first half of game three in Breeze. While Team Secret were able to rally after the side switch, their best efforts proved to be in vain as their Indonesian opponents took the series.

With their final loss, Team Secret bowed out of the VCT APAC LCQ and will not be participating in this year's VALORANT Champions in Istanbul, Turkey.

For both Team Secret and their fans, this recent defeat was disappointing given that they qualified for VALORANT Champions 2021 and finished in the Top 8, notably getting eliminated by eventual champions Acend.

Team Secret's previous performances this season have also been below expectations, as they missed out on a spot in Masters Copenhagen by only finishing in third place during APAC Stage 2 Challengers 2022.

In a tweet following their defeat, Team Secret said the team were "so close yet so far. Heartbreaking series".

The team also thanked everyone for the outpouring support, while fans cheered and hoped for the team to quickly bounce back.
