We’ve Got Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Entire Itinerary for Their Trip to Nigeria

The trip marks the couple's first international tour since relocating to the U.S.

Tomorrow, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be touching down in Nigeria, marking the duo's first official international tour since they stepped down from their roles as senior royals and decamped to the sunny shores of California. Harry is currently in London, but People shared the couple's full itinerary for the Nigeria trip, which includes a packed schedule and, maybe, a way for the African nation to cement the opportunity to host future Invictus Games.

Everything is set to start tomorrow, Friday, May 10, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex land in Nigeria. As soon as they land, they'll start their royal appointments, which include visiting a school, meeting with Nigeria's Chief of Defense staff, and seeing injured service members at a military hospital.

The next day, Harry and Meghan are scheduled to attend a training session for Nigeria: Unconquered, a charity that works with the Invictus Games, before making an appearance at a reception hosted by the chief of defense staff that will also honor the country's military families. Meghan will then have an event without her husband as she co-hosts a chat with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director general of the World Trade Organization. The weekend will wrap up with a basketball clinic with Giants of Africa, a "cultural reception," and a polo fundraiser on Sunday.

Nigeria first participated in the Invictus Games last year. The annual event is an "adaptive sports competition for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans." Nigerian Minister of Defense Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru was at the Düsseldorf games and hopes to bring them to his home country.

While there's no news yet on whether or not Nigeria will host the games in 2026 (the 2025 event is already scheduled to be held in Canada), the country does have a special connection to Markle. In 2022, she shared that she is 43% Nigerian after she took a genealogy test. During an episode of her Archetypes podcast, she told comedian Ziwe Fumudoh, "I'm going to start to dig deeper into all this, because anybody that I've told, especially Nigerian women, are like 'What?!'"

"This is huge for our community," Ziwe said. "No, honestly, you do look like a Nigerian, you look like my Aunt Uzo. So, this is great."

At last year's Invictus Games, the Nigerian contingent gave Meghan a special nickname meaning "royal wife."
