Veteran Hong Kong director suffers from dementia

13 May – It was reported that veteran actor and director, Chor Yuen (real name Zhang Baojian) has been diagnosed with dementia.

As reported on HK Channel, the 79-year-old director and actor, whose work include "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Father", "The Duel of the Century", and 2004's "Armed Reaction IV", with the latter his last showbiz job, was confirmed to suffer from mild dementia after he began experiencing memory loss back in 2011.

However, despite the need for him to rely on others' assistance for his day-to-day activities, Chor Yuen's doctor explained that his condition is still in its early stages and that he can prevent it from getting worse by taking medication and activities which will stimulate his brain.

A source close to the director's family stated that Chor Yuen was in disbelief when he was told about the condition, but that he and wife, veteran actress Nan Hong, quickly adjusted to the situation and found their solution to the problem.

It was revealed that "The House of 72 Tenants" director has already put the doctor's advice to a good use and have recently started learning tai chi and calligraphy in order to maintain his physical and mental health.

His wife Nan Hong had also quit all her arts and craft classes to take care of her husband.
