VIBE Editor-In-Chief Datwon Thomas Takes Executive Producer, Talent Post At Dick Clark Productions

Dick Clark Productions has appointed VIBE editor in chief Datwon Thomas to the newly created role of Executive Producer, Talent. He starts the new role immediately, becoming part of DCP’s in-house talent team, collaborating on talent strategy, relations, bookings, and creative. He’ll use his 13-year experiencing leading VIBE to help take the company to the next level, working out of its New York and Los Angeles offices.

Thomas will also assume the role of VIBE Editor-at-Large, working on big-picture strategy for the brand. In addition, he will maintain his role as PMC’s Vice President, Culture and Media, building diversity initiatives and programs for the company. We’ve watched Datwon start here at PMC with a small staff and build VIBE into a preeminent chronicler of the worlds of Hip-Hop and R&B.

Since 2019, Thomas has worked closely with the DCP team as a consulting producer for flagship programs, including the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.

Prior to VIBE and PMC, Thomas held positions as Founder and Editorial Director of the men’s lifestyle guide KING magazine and the urban car enthusiast’s favorite, RIDES magazine. He was the Editor-in-Chief of hip-hop’s street authority, XXL Magazine. In addition, he also presided as Founder/Editorial Director of XXL Presents Hip-Hop Soul, a publication dedicated to documenting the successful hybrid genre of R&B and Hip-Hop.

Thomas worked in the digital content space as Editor-In-Chief of Hookt.com and was also the COO/EIC of GlobalGrind.com. Thomas is also a sought-after and recognized television commentator, moderator, and host.
