Carpenters finish work on Notre-Dame medieval choir

STORY: Carpenters restoring Paris' Notre-Dame cathedral

are celebrating completing work on its medieval choir

Attaching flowers to the structure is

a traditional celebration for carpenters

Workers also waved axes forged

using 12th century models

(Philippe Josse, Restoration works supervisor)

“It is a magnificent work because we have restored it according to the medieval design and according to a manual size and finish, which makes it both a magnificent work to see and also a long-lasting and durable one, because we rebuilt it to last 860 years at least, and it might twice as much.”

Notre-Dame is set to reopen

to the public on December 8, 2024
