Vitamix Is Recalling More Than 500,000 Blender Parts — Here's What You Need to Know

You may want to check your blender type before you make your next smoothie.

On June 20, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a notice that Vitamix has expanded its recall to include more models, bringing it to almost 570,000 blending containers and blade bases.

"This recall involves all Ascent and Venturist Series 8-ounce blending containers, 20-ounce blending containers, and blade bases, including those that were repaired as part of a previous recall in August 2018," Vitamix shared in a release about the recall. "The clear containers and black blade bases are included with certain Vitamix Venturist and Ascent Series blenders, such as the Venturist V1200, Ascent A2300, Ascent A2500, Ascent A3300, and Ascent A3500 blenders; and also sold separately, as sets, or bundles in various configurations. The Vitamix logo is printed on the blending container."

The remedy for the recall, the brand added, is that everyone, including those who participated in the 2018 recall, should "immediately stop" using the 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers and blades and contact Vitamix to receive a repair kit. The kit includes a "protective plastic shroud to attach over the blade base and additional instructional labels." The company is not offering replacements or refunds on the products.

The recall was expanded after the company received reports of injuries, including  27 reports of lacerations, 11 of which were from the 2018 recall, after "consumers’ hands came in contact with exposed blades."

“Despite the rigorous testing each product undergoes before going to market, Vitamix often learns a great deal about its products after they’ve been used by thousands of people in real-life situations,” a representative from Vitamix shared with Today about the recall.

The recalled products were sold at several major retailers, including Costco, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Macy’s, Target, Williams Sonoma, and Walmart, as well as on Vitamix.com, Amazon.com, and QVC.com. They were all sold between April 2017 and May 2024 at price points between $30 and $990 for both the blender base and the blending vessels.
