‘S.W.A.T’ to Air on WeTV in Cable Syndication Deal
WeTV is set to air the CBS remake of “S.W.A.T.” in syndication.
The non-exclusive cable rights deal will see the first six seasons of the cop drama air on the AMC-owned network beginning Nov. 12. “S.W.A.T.” also airs on CBS, in syndication, and is available to stream on Netflix and Hulu.

“’S.W.A.T.’ is one of those high-octane procedurals that continues to captivate audiences and grow its viewership,” said Monica Veiga, senior vice president of U.S. Distribution for Sony Pictures Television, which co-produces the show. “We’re thrilled to partner with AMC Networks to bring this fan-favorite to their viewers.”
Inspired by the television series and the feature film of the same name, the show stars Shemar Moore as former Marine and locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrison. The descritption states he is “tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, Hondo strives to bridge the divide between his two worlds.”
The show aired for six seasons on CBS before it was canceled, though the network ultimately reversed that decision and will bring the show back for a seventh and final season. That season will also be licensed to AMC Networks when it is available.
Following news of its cancellation, the show saw a surge in viewership on streaming. It rose to the top of both the Netflix Top 10 list as well as the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 charts.
“S.W.A.T.” is produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with CBS Studios. The series is developed by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and Shawn Ryan.
