Wait, a Jonas Brother Lost the Role of ‘Spider-Man’ to Andrew Garfield?

It’s hard to imagine anyone else but Andrew Garfield playing Peter Parker in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise (except for maybe say a Tom Holland or a Tobey Maguire). So, imagine our surprise when we found out one of the Jonas Brothers auditioned for the role and ultimately didn’t get the part.

On a recent episode of the Just for Variety podcast, singer Joe Jonas revealed that he was up for the lead role in The Amazing Spider-Man and lost the part to Garfield. He recalled how he was “so excited” to play the superhero in the film.

“In the moment, you’re destroyed or you’re defeated. But you realize this person was brilliant,” Jonas said. “I remember years ago I was up for Spider-Man and I was so, so excited and it was the year Andrew Garfield got it. Obviously, he was the right one.”

He added, “But I remember that was a big thing at the time, going back for callbacks. And the director used to be a music video director, so I was like, ‘I got an in here.’ But you know what? I love the process of auditioning and putting yourself out there and having to prove yourself.”

When Jonas was asked if he ever wore the famous Spider-Man suit during the audition, he simply responded, “No, but I’m sure I had one that I would try on occasionally back in the day.”

Seems like everything does happen for a reason.
