Watch Bethenny Frankel make her Lifetime debut in “Danger in the Dorm” trailer

The "RHONY" alum stars as a frantic mom in the true-crime thriller.

She once famously told her Real Housewives of New York City co-star Jill Zaran to "get a hobby," and now Bethenny Frankel is taking her own advice. The reality star/author/cocktail entrepreneur is branching out into acting with an upcoming Lifetime movie.

EW has the exclusive first look at the trailer for Danger in the Dorm (premiering June 16), a thriller about Becky, a college student (Clara Alexandrova) navigating a terrifying crime spree on campus. Frankel stars as Becky's mother, Joanne, who frantically tries to get her child to come home after another student is murdered. Watch the full trailer above.

In a release, Lifetime says Danger in the Dorm is "inspired by" a book by noted true-crime author Ann Rule. The film "tells the story of Kathleen (Clara Alexandrova) after the tragic murder of her childhood best friend and fellow classmate, Becky. Now, she must shed her rebellious youthful spirit in order to catch a killer who’s preying on young girls around campus, even as her mother, Joanne (Bethenny Frankel), tries to protect Kathleen from suffering the same fate as her friend."

Before she became a reality TV star, Frankel did have a few small acting roles, including in the 1994 thriller Hollywood Hills 90028. She later shifted her focus to a variety of business enterprises and made it all the way to the finale of The Apprentice: Martha Stewart. After joining RHONY in 2008, Frankel left her thespian days behind her — until now. Danger in the Dorm is her first leading role in a TV movie. Though she's famous for yelling "GO TO SLEEP!" at her RHONY castmates, Frankel would probably prefer that her fans stay awake to watch it.

Danger in the Dorm premieres Sunday, June 16, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
