Watch Kelly Rowland and Drew Barrymore compete in a battle of the burps: 'We got some big belchers here'

Please meet your new burp queens, Drew Burppymore and Belchy Rowland.

Drew Barrymore and Kelly Rowland each have their own impressive lists of accolades to their names, but the pair were willing to risk it all to receive the prestigious title of Burp Queen on Thursday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show

The talk show host and Mea Culpa star went head-to-head in a fierce Battle of the Burps competition that saw them attempt to out-belch one another over the course of three rounds. Prior to the burp-off, Barrymore revealed that this wasn’t the first time that the pair had faced off against one another.

“We were in a burping contest at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice [Awards] back when we made ‘Independent Women’ [for] Charlie’s Angels [with] Destiny’s Child,” Barrymore explained. “The holy trinity. The power of the three women coming together.”

Barrymore’s co-host Ross Mathews stepped in to judge the event and explain the rules: three rounds of burping — each different than the next — after which the true Burp Queen would be crowned. Still, he acknowledged, it was going to be a pretty intense competition because “we got some big belchers here.”

The first round was a quick, short burp. While Barrymore’s was solid, it was Rowland’s that seemed to take everyone by surprise — including herself. “That one had bass on it,” she declared. Barrymore added, “That was like when someone sneezes and they’re like, ‘achoo,’ and you’re like, ‘Oh my god, it’s the cutest sneeze I’ve ever heard.’”

The second round was all about going the distance with the longest belch possible. Rowland’s burp gave out early, but Barrymore’s definitely had some serious lasting power. “That was wet,” the host added.

The pair, however, both struggled on round three, which was centered around burping out the names of the members of Destiny’s Child. As they competed, several burp facts were depicted onscreen, including “the longest burp ever recorded was 1 minute, 13 seconds, and 57 milliseconds” and “chickens are one of the only animals that can’t burp.”

In the end, Mathews turned it over to the audience to decide the true Burp Queen, asking, “Is it Drew Burppymore or is it Belchy Rowland?”

The victory was then given to Rowland, who received a bouquet of yellow roses, a crown, and a sash that pronounced her Burp Queen. But, instead of keeping the achievement to herself, the “Survivor” singer decided to share her reign with Barrymore. “No, this is not fair,” she said. “I want to share the crown!” The crown was then placed on Barrymore’s head and the pair exchanged a quick hug.

“Your winners of the Battle of the Burps!" Mathews declared. “Kelly Rowland and Drew Barrymore!”
