Waterloo Road has aired heartbreaking scenes in Andrew's cancer story as Kim Campbell broke down in tears, telling her partner that she can't lose him.

After collapsing in last week's episode, former headteacher Andrew Treneman headed to the hospital in tonight's episode (February 20) where he was too unwell to have his weekly round of chemo.

Meanwhile, back at the school, Tonya accidentally left Schuey's stolen goods where they were found by teachers. When Preston found out, he confronted Schuey who threatened to expose Preston's sister if he didn't find £400.

Later, headteacher Kim caught Preston in her office trying to steal back the stolen items and, after being at the hospital all day, the interaction pushed her over the edge.

"I have got a partner at home who has got cancer and he might not get a second chance," she screamed at Preston before throwing the stolen stuff at him.

After Preston's mum Nicky walked in and confronted Kim, Tonya came clean about who had stolen the stuff and went with Nicky to the police station.

At the end of a long day, Kim went home where she broke down in tears recalling the loss of her son Dexter, telling Andrew: "I can't do this, I can't lose you.

"Everyone keeps telling me that it's going to be okay and that we're going to get through this, but they said that about Dexter. I can't hurt like that again. I know that I said I could handle all of this, but I don't think I can and I know that's really selfish," Kim said through tears.

During the emotional conversation, Andrew told Kim she doesn't have to put on a brave face and can be honest about her feelings. He then asked her "to live with me through the uncertainty for however long we've got".

Waterloo Road airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
