‘Watson’: Eve Harlow & ‘So Help Me Todd’s Inga Schlingmann Join CBS Drama Series

EXCLUSIVE: A month and a half after the painful cancellation of So Help Me Todd, main cast member Inga Schlingmann has been tapped as a series regular on another CBS procedural, the upcoming Watson, headlined by Morris Chestnut. That is both good news for So Help Me Todd fans, as it keeps a piece of the show on CBS, and bad news, since it makes the series’ end permanent. There was never a realistic chance but fans had been holding out hope that So Help Me Todd could find a home elsewhere.

Also set as a lead in Watson is Eve Harlow (The Night Agent). Both Schlingmann and Harlow are extending their relationship with Watson producer CBS Studios coming off So Help Me Todd and the final season of Star Trek: Discovery, respectively.

In addition to Chestnut, the two join a cast member from another CBS procedural, S.W.A.T.‘s Rochelle Aytes, as well as Peter Mark Kendall and Ritchie Coster.

Created by Craig Sweeny, Watson is a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives (Chestnut) as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.

Harlow will play Ingrid Derian, an accomplished neurologist whom Dr. Watson (Chestnut) recruits to work at his clinic not only because he recognizes her indisputable skill, but because she herself is a mystery Watson looks forward to solving. Ingrid reminds him of his late friend, Sherlock Holmes, and values her ruthless and sometimes questionable practices… but the rest of her teammates will wonder — and worry — who is the real Ingrid Derian, and what is she hiding?

Schlingmann will portray the unflappable Dr. Sasha Lubbock. While most people question how she had the time and energy to double-board in both rheumatology and immunology, Watson (Chestnut) knows it’s because Sasha thrives in bifurcated conditions. Having grown up torn between two families — her birth parents in central China, and her adoptive, religious family in Dallas, Texas — Sasha’s southern charm is parallel only to the ambition that landed her in one of the world’s most prestigious genetics clinics.

The daughter of a German and Taiwanese immigrants, Schlingmann has some medical background, having shadowed cardiothoracic surgeons at NY Presbyterian Hospital while attending NYU and having worked as a birth doula with Americorp post-graduation. In her acting debut, she played a nurse in an episode of CBS/CBS Studios’ Hawaii Five-0.

Schlingmann is coming off playing Susan Yang for two seasons on CBS’ dramedy So Help Me Todd. She is repped by McKegney Management and Bloch Law.

The 100 alumna Harlow is also known for her roles on NBC’s Heroes: Reborn and Disney+’s Agents of SHIELD. She recently played sadistic hitwoman Ellen on Netflix’s breakout hit The Night Agent and can be seen in the final season of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Discovery as outlaw Moll. She is repped by GGA, Authentic Talent & Literary Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
