As promised earlier this year, China-made messaging app WeChat has launched for BlackBerry 10. The new BB10 release brings some of WeChat’s features to BlackBerry’s newest OS - but not yet things like video chats or live voice calls.

But WeChat for BB10 does have the walkie-talkie voice messaging and cutesy sticker packs. Presumably it’ll get more features to match the Android and iOS versions in due course.

The version of WeChat for legacy BlackBerry devices, which we spotted in December last year, is now out of beta and supports BB OS5, OS6, and OS7.

This first release of WeChat for BB10 supports China, English, and Indonesian. WeChat has nearly 400 million users in total, of whom 70 million are outside of China.

WeChat, made by Chinese web giant Tencent (HKG:0700.HK - News) is the first of the big-name social messaging apps to launch for BlackBerry 10, which become available in many nations in February this year on the brand-new BlackBerry Z10 phone.

WeChat is here in BlackBerry World.
