Five Singapore Airlines crew members were injured, two seriously, in a two-vehicle crash in New Zealand on Wednesday.
 
They were traveling in Christchurch when the car they were in collided with a vehicle towing a horse float at a road intersection in the Canterbury area.

Singapore’s sailing fleet coasted to another resounding victory on the final day of competition at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

Maximilian Soh skippered his crew of Andrew Paul Chan, Russell Kan, Christopher Lim and Justin Wong to win the J80 open match racing finals on Wednesday afternoon, bringing the sailors’ total haul to three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

Higher toll rates for vehicles leaving Singapore from today

At a minute past midnight, the Singapore government started imposing the new toll charges for all vehicles, except motorcycles, leaving the republic through the Causeway today.

Up to yesterday, there was no indication that the republic's Land Transport Authority (LTA), would back down or postpone their Oct 1 date following several meetings with the Malaysian government.

Hong Kong protesters who braved thunderstorms to stage their third night of pro-democracy rallies began massing Wednesday at the city's Golden Bauhinia Square as China's National Day holiday lent their campaign for free elections fresh momentum.

As dawn broke over the city, demonstrators streamed to the square in the city's downtown Wanchai district ahead of an 8am (midnight GMT) flag-raising ceremony to mark the 65th anniversary of the founding of Communist China.
