Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega has opened up about the intense schedule required for the Netflix series, which included learning fencing and the cello.

In a recent Netflix Q&A (via Variety), Ortega said that the shooting schedule combined with the cello and fencing classes she undertook to properly portray Wednesday Addams almost left her at breaking point.

"It was show up to set two hours early, do that 12- to 14-hour day, then go home and then get on a Zoom and have whatever lesson that I had," Ortega said.

"Or show up to my apartment, [and] my cello teacher was already waiting for me. It was just constantly going, and if you could on a weekend, if we weren't shooting the sixth day that week, it was, 'All right, well then, we'll get your lessons in on that day.'"

In particular, one of the most challenging components of the filming schedule was learning to play the Rolling Stones hit 'Paint It Black' on the cello by herself — a piece that is usually meant for two cello players.

Wednesday has been renewed by Netflix for a second season, which is hardly surprising given the enormous viewing figures and positive reviews for the show.

Speaking at the time of renewal, Ortega tweeted: "Thanks to everyone who made this upcoming season possible. This has all been pretty surreal."
