Imaginarium: Into the Space of Time

Head down to the eighth edition of this annual exhibition where the concept of space and time will be explored by local and international artists through their immersive and interactive artworks. Learn more about the myths and theories that shape our memories and futures and wonder what the “fourth dimension” means to different people and cultures.

Singapore Theatre Festival

Exploring social themes such as media freedom, racism and surveillance, this year’s annual festival will see the staging of eight plays, all presented by theatre company Wild Rice. The festival is an opportunity to discover works by established and new players in the scene with plays including Building A Character, Faghag and Supervision.

Sprout

Celebrating sustainable agriculture and “good honest food”, this farmers’ market features over 55 exhibitors ranging from local farms to speciality food vendors. Purchase fresh produce and farming tools at the venue, as well as learn about topics such as urban farming and how to grow food in one’s home. Chef Violet Oon will be there to teach visitors how to cook healthy meals through a live cooking demonstration session.

When: 7-8 July, 10am to 8pm

Moana Dance Workshop

Try your hand at Polynesian dancing in this workshop inspired by the Disney film Moana. Children will be taught to dance like the film’s characters Moana and Maui over four classes, as they learn the basics with traditional drum music and choreography of a Moana song. Organised by ‘Ori Tahiti Singapore dance school, the workshop is targeted at kids aged from three to 10 years old, as well as teenage girls.

When: 7, 14, 21, 28 July, 10am to 11am (3 – 10-year-olds), 11am to 12pm (teens – girls only)

Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale

The choir will perform in Singapore for the first time ever as it celebrates its 50th anniversary by embarking on an Asian tour. The Emmy Award-winning choir has recorded with internationally-renowned orchestras and soloists such as Luciano Pavarotti and the Philadelphia Orchestra. One of the oldest and most celebrated boy-choirs in the US, it has garnered a devoted global following for their highly-acclaimed performances.

When: 7 July, 7.30pm

Jazz Vocal Feature: Cyrille Aimée

French jazz artist Cyrille Aimée will be performing at a one-night only show at the Esplanade Recital Studio. Aimée is set to attract more fans with her latest acclaimed album Let’s Get Lost. Once a resident in Singapore, Aimée is a winner of several jazz competitions, which include the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocal Competition and the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition.
