Mum 'confident' again after belly-button tattoo
A mother, who lost her belly-button due to an operation, has restored her confidence after getting a realistic medical tattoo.
Sarah Olive, from Rookley on the Isle of Wight, lost her belly button six years ago after a hernia and tummy tuck operation.
The 3D tattoo was made by artist Gemma Bowers who owns Gems Ink based in Ryde.
Zoo announces birth of rare tamarin monkey
A zoo has announced the birth of a critically-endangered monkey.
The cotton-top tamarin was born at Marwell Zoo near Winchester to parents Mico and Gurt.
Native to Columbia, there are only about 2,000 of the small primates left in the wild.
Describing it as a "really exciting time for our troop at Marwell", the zoo said it was the second time the pair had reproduced.
Cruise ship passengers isolate amid bug outbreak
A number of people had to isolate on a cruise ship following the outbreak of a stomach bug.
The P&O Cruises vessel Ventura left Southampton on 11 May for a two-week cruise around the Canary Islands.
Following reports of passengers with "gastrointestinal symptoms", the company said "enhanced" sanitation protocols had been put in place.
Villagers 'appalled' by deer head find
A man who removed a deer head from a memorial stone said he and fellow villagers were "appalled" by the discovery.
Chris White, who works in a shop in Burley in the New Forest, said someone alerted him to a severed head and an upside down wooden cross placed on the stone on 8 May.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was investigating the incident along with a report five sheep had been stabbed to death in nearby Cadnam.
Work on £132m project to restart soon - developers
The company behind Southampton’s Bargate Quarter development says it hopes work can restart this summer.
Legal and General admits the £132m project has suffered delays after Henry construction went into administration last June.
The development will see more than 500 new apartments built along a linear park and will include the medieval town walls.
Legal and General said it was hoping to welcome the first residents in early 2026.
