Welcome Back to Hogwarts! A ‘Harry Potter’ Series Is Reportedly Coming to HBO Max

Although our chances of getting an acceptance letter from Hogwarts are getting slimmer by the day, we've got some exciting news that just might make up for it.

According to Bloomberg, Warner Bros is developing a seven-season Harry Potter series for HBO Max. While there aren't too many details just yet, the outlet reported that each season will be based on one of J.K. Rowling's novels. The streaming service also intends to "delve further into the world of Rowling’s books" by expanding on certain plotlines within each season.

Deadline also reports that Warner Bros wants Rowling to serve as a producer. But according to Bloomberg, she wouldn't have as much creative control or “run the show day to day.”

It comes as no surprise that the famous author will have some level of involvement since she previously served as a producer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (parts one and two), and as a writer and co-producer for all three of the Fantastic Beasts spinoff films.

Per Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed that HBO's Harry Potter reboot is a top priority. He said, “We’re going to focus on franchises. We haven’t had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven’t done a Harry Potter in 15 years. The DC movies and the Harry Potter movies provided a lot of the profits for Warner Bros…over the past 25 years.”

Zaslav also emphasized his desire to “do something with J.K. on Harry Potter going forward.”

Sounds like we're one step closer to revisiting Hogwarts—and we couldn't be more stoked.
