Wells Adams says John Henry did 'the best he could' with Olivia on “Bachelor in Paradise”

Bachelor in Paradise's bartender reacts to John Henry's love triangle, Tanner's rose ceremony surprise, and Eliza's standoff with a crab.

Each week, Bachelor in Paradise bartender/de facto therapist Wells Adams will share his insights about the latest ridiculous happenings on the beach. This week, Wells shares his thoughts via email on Oliva and Kat's battle for John Henry, Jess's epiphany about Blake, and more.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: First, a culinary question. As a foodie and cooking show host, did it bother you to see Kat and Mercedes dining on chicken nuggets and fries when there is all that excellent Mexican cuisine available at the beach?

ABC Kat and Mercedes enjoy some chicky nugs.

WELLS ADAMS: Absolutely not! Those chicky nugs are fire and the staff at Playa Escondida are amazing.

Aaron was able to win back (most of) Eliza's trust this week after she talked to Charity about the ex-girlfriend drama. Are we ok to believe in love again, Wells?

Absolutely! Aaron is a great guy, and everyone is rooting for him and Eliza... except a few of his exes.

For Jess, absence made the heart grow fonder while Blake was on the date with Genevie. Do you think she should have explored more connections, or are Blake's compliments just too good to pass up?

Well in Jess's defense, she did do some exploring with Tyler, but it didn't seem to pull her away from that sexy wildlife conservationist. Listen, I get it; you can get lost in those Canadian eyes of his. He once told me that I made a perfect margarita, and I almost fainted. It probably had more to do with it being 105 degrees, but still.

Tanner made out like a (kissing) bandit at the cocktail party. Why do you think he ultimately chose to give Rachel his rose?

Obviously, there is so much we don't see, but I definitely thought his rose was going to Davia. But if there is one thing we know about Paradise, is you never know what's going to happen next!

Everyone was shocked — Brayden especially — when Becca suddenly left Paradise right before the rose ceremony. What can you tell us about her reasoning for leaving?

I can't speak for Becca, but I will say this: Paradise is a stressful environment. I can totally empathize with someone wanting to go home.

John Henry gave his rose to Kat, but Olivia is still on the beach. What's the proper protocol for exploring a new connection when your old one is five feet away?

I'm not sure if this one is in my Paradise handbook. I think what he did was good. He pulled her aside and apologized the best he could. Now I'd suggest staying as far away from Olivia as humanly possible.

Finally, how long did that crab hold Eliza hostage in the dressing room?

That crab delayed the rose ceremony for almost 20 minutes! If I'd known that's what we were waiting for, I would have gone full Tom Hanks in Cast Away and eaten that little guy!

Bachelor in Paradise airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
