White Dragon King passes away

22 Aug – Chow Yam-nam, an overseas Chinese mystic who is more famously known as the White Dragon King, has recently passed away.

BBC News reported that on 17 August, the mystic breathed his last after having suffered from bronchitis for so long. The news hit the Hong Kong entertainment industry pretty hard, with some of Chow's famous followers such as Tony Leung Chiu-Wai and Eric Tsang rushing to Thailand to pay their respect.

Tony, who attended the memorial service, expressed his gratitude to the White Dragon King, "Thank you for teaching me all these years. Rest in peace."

However, Eric Tsang was not as calm as "The Grandmaster" star, and was seen holding hands and crying with the master's wife.

Chow Yam-nam was born and lived in Thailand, and was better known publicly as Bak Lung Wong, which literally translates to the White Dragon King. He was famously known for his ability to bless people into becoming highly successful celebrities in Hong Kong.

Among the celebrities that have met him include Andy Lau, Leon Lai, Jackie Chan, Carina Lau, Wong Jing, Tony Leung, Richie Ren, Shu Qi, Eric Tsang, Sammi Cheng, Eddie Peng, Miriam Yeung and Show Luo.

Meanwhile, Chow's wife dismissed rumours that their daughter will succeed her father as the next trustee of the dragon king spirit, saying, "The successor has to be selected by the divine spirit. Unfortunately, my daughter is not the one."

He was 76.
