White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is delivering a press briefing Monday afternoon as Iran’s weekend missile and drone strike on Israel adds an urgency to solving the current funding impasse in Congress.

President Biden held a conference call with the leaders of both parties in both chambers Sunday to reiterate the importance of passing the national security supplemental. As Secretary of State Antony Blinken noted Monday, U.S. support played a role in Israel’s ability to block most of the aerial assault.

Monday afternoon, Biden is meeting first with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and then with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

The briefing is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
