Here’s Why Justin Hartley Refuses to Take Down His Holiday Decor After Christmas

Justin Hartley doesn’t like taking down his holiday decorations. So, he found a foolproof solution: keep them up year-round.

This month, the This Is Us alum sat down for an exclusive interview with People magazine to promote his Netflix film, The Noel Diary. While discussing when he decorates for the holidays, Hartley admitted that he’s a Christmas-tree-before-Thanksgiving kind of guy.

“It used to be right after Thanksgiving, and recently we’ll put the trees up and everything before Thanksgiving,” Hartley said. “And then my whole thing is if you come over to my house in July, there might be a Christmas tree up.”

The This Is Us actor continued, “I don’t mind putting them up, but taking them down is a nightmare. It’s sad. And it’s such a pain. So, I just keep it lit up through January and then into the summer.”

Hartley revealed that his secret to a stress-free holiday season is shopping early. He added, “I developed a really good habit over the past couple of years where I shop throughout the year. It just makes things so much easier.”

The actor also shared details about the heartwarming holiday tradition that his mother created. “I have two sisters and a brother. And my mother, every year for Christmas gets us a Christmas ornament from that year,” he said. “She writes a handwritten letter with each one explaining why she got that particular one. It’s really sweet.”
