The Witcher shares season 3 exclusive clip

Netflix has released a new clip from the upcoming season of The Witcher, ahead of its premiere later this month.
The tense clip sees Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Princess Cirilla of Cintra (Freya Allan) face off against villainous mage Rience and his followers.
Season three will see Geralt tasked with taking into hiding Ciri and protecting her from the monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent who are hunting the group down.

Yennefer is entrusted with developing Ciri's powers and hopes to learn more about her untapped magical abilities, but the group find themselves in danger.
In the scene, which can be watched below, Geralt is able to get the upper hand against Rience during a brutal battle, thanks to the help of Yennefer, but not before the group are overwhelmed with Cirilla seemingly captured by a group of elves.
The season will be released in two parts, with the first five episodes landing on June 29, before the second half of the season premieres on July 27.
This will also be Cavill's last outing in the platinum wig before Liam Hemsworth takes over the role of Geralt for season four.

Showrunner Lauren Hissrich previously addressed the decision to recast the character rather than end the show after Cavill's departure, saying it felt like the best decision going forward.
"We had the choice to have Geralt exit and to end the show," she told Total Film. "[But] that's not something that we were willing to do. There's just too many stories left to tell.
"If we replaced Geralt with another Witcher, we would be going fully away from the books and I don't think that's what anyone wanted either."
The Witcher seasons 1-2 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 3 volume 1 launches on 29 June, and volume 2 on 27 July 2023. Spin-off The Witcher: Blood Origin is also streaming on Netflix.
