Woman rejects coworker’s ask for her to be kid’s ‘auntie’: ‘This is not cool’

A woman doesn’t want to be a surrogate aunt to her friend’s 4-year-old.

She shared the issue on Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum. She doesn’t have or want children due to sensory issues she has. After befriending a woman at work with a 4-year-old son, she thought it was clear they would hang out without any kids involved.

However, the friend started to hint that the Reddit poster should start babysitting. She began to make open-ended statements when the babysitter canceled, like asking her to babysit “and then directly telling me that something was ‘part of my auntie duties.'” Things came to a head during the Halloween season.

“All of this is not cool with me and last time we hung out, she brought up the fact that I love scary stuff and she hates it, but her son really liked it,” the Reddit poster explained.

The friend told the Reddit poster to take the 4-year-old to do Halloween activities.

“I said, as kindly as I could, that I was really not comfortable with kids in general and the thought of watching her kid gave my massive anxiety just thinking about it,” the Reddit poster wrote.

But the friend got “huffy,” left, then later texted the Reddit poster that she was basically a jerk.

Redditors felt the friend was being unreasonable.

“It almost seems like she’s looking for free babysitting every once in a while and thought you’d be the perfect babysitter person to take on these duties,” a user wrote.

“You established boundaries and she needs to respect that,” another said.

“Babysitting is not a requirement of friendship,” a Redditor replied.

With just $1,000 and one day, this Harlem bedroom gets a brand new look:
