Ottawa paramedics say a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Barrhaven on Thursday night.

An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson said in an email to CBC News they received a call to Strandherd and Longfields drives around 9:10 p.m., and took a woman to the hospital.

She was in critical condition, paramedics said.

Ottawa police said on X just before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday that part of Strandherd Drive was closed to traffic. They posted again at 6:55 a.m. on Friday to say that the road was open.

No charges or suspects have been announced.

South Korea court rejects request to extend Yoon's detention
SEOUL (Reuters) -A South Korean court on Friday rejected a request from the prosecutors' office to extend the detention of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over a criminal investigation into his short-lived martial law declaration on Dec. 3, Yonhap reported. The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) leading the investigation on Thursday transferred the case to the prosecutors' office and requested they indict Yoon for insurrection and abuse of power.
