SINGAPORE— Singapore's top opposition party Workers' Party (WP) has acknowledged the existence of a circulating online video clip that allegedly shows an "inappropriate exchange" between two senior party members.

In a statement released on Monday (17 July), the party confirmed that it is investigating the matter, and will provide a comment once all the facts have been gathered. Furthermore, it emphasised its expectation for all members to take full responsibility for their behaviour.

"The party is currently looking into the matter and will comment when we have the facts," the WP statement said. "The Party also expects all its members to fully own and account for their behaviour."

The video clip, which lasts for approximately 15 seconds and was uploaded to social media, allegedly appears to show Leon Perera, a Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC, dining with Nicole Seah, a candidate from the 2020 general election, while holding and stroking her hands.

While WP acknowledged its awareness of the video, it has not yet officially confirmed the identities of the individuals involved.
