SINGAPORE — The Anti-Chope Movement was started in April last year, attempting to discourage Singaporeans from “chope-ing”, or reserving seats with small personal items, at crowded hawker centres. It was among 22 ground-up movements and individuals to be inducted into the the Singapore Kindness Movement’s Kindred Spirit Circle on 25 May.

The movement has divided opinion, with some feeling that it is within their rights to “chope” seats, while other feel that it is an ungracious act that should not be condoned.
