Yahoo Singapore football survey throws up shocker: Singapore Premier League bigger than La Liga

Co-host Neil Humphreys and Chia Han Keong, together with guest Haizam Shah, reveal a big surprise from the Yahoo Singapore football survey - the much-maligned Singapore Premier League is actually watch and supported by more fans than the Spanish La Liga.

- Yahoo Singapore, we did a sort of like a survey with 2,000 respondents-- so a good survey sample size--

- With YouGov?

- --with YouGov on football in Singapore, just to kick off this season of podcasts. So last week, we did some of the statistics, but I saved the best for this week.

- This is an absolute cracker.

- So we asked the respondents, which are the football leagues you watch and support? So, obviously, the most support is the English Premier League.

[INTERPOSING VOICES]

- 43%. Yep, 43%. Second one, also no surprises, UEFA Champions League.

- Mm.

- That's about 23%, 25%.

- That's not a league, actually.

- So I was thinking competition. [INAUDIBLE] competition. So number three, number three is the one that-- I bet you already thinking La Liga.

- La Liga?

- Serie A?

- Bundesliga

- Bundesliga? No, Singapore Premier League. Understand, 18%, OK? Singapore Premier League was third. So if we want to compare, La Liga, fourth, 10%. Serie A, 8% Bundesliga, 7%, quite far behind Singapore Premier League. So Singapore Premier League actually stands about just, i mean, in between La Liga and the English League and Champions League.
