A specialist in child health has tragically died after falling out of a moving trailer.

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 6 shortly after 3:00 p.m. as Robert P. Woroniecka, 59, drove a pick-up truck pulling a 2024 Airstream trailer, with his wife Dr. Monika I. Woroniecka, 58, and family inside, New York State Police said in a press release.

The group had been traveling from their hometown of Stony Brook, New York.

According to witnesses, during the last 20 minutes of the journey, the passenger door of the trailer swung open with Woroniecka's “arm hanging on the door” due to the wind, “causing her to be thrown from the Airstream.”

Woroniecka then “struck her head on the shoulder of the roadway” after being ejected from the vehicle, per the release. She was transported to Samaritan Medical Center’s Emergency Room where she died from her injuries.
