YouTube leads pack in March streamed media viewership
YouTube topped all other companies in terms of total audience share on streaming during the month of March, according to a new report.
The streamer won nearly 10 percent of the total audience for streamed media, according to Nielsen Media Research figures, with Netflix coming in second with 8.1 percent and Hulu coming in a distant third with 3 percent.
Disney had the largest audience share among legacy media companies on streaming in March, winning 1.7 percent compared to 1.3 percent on Peacock.
Last month, Neilsen found more viewers turned to streamers for news, sports and entertainment than any month since late last summer.
In March, streaming accounted for 38 percent of of all TV viewership, compared to 22 percent on cable and 28 percent on broadcast.
