"Black Coal, Thin Ice" wins big at Directors Guild Awards

14 Apr - Berlinale's Golden bear winner "Black Coal, Thin Ice" recently became the major winner at this year's China Film Directors Guild Awards.

According to CRI News, the film, directed by Diao Yinan, successfully brought home three awards - Best Film, Best Screenwriter for Diao Yinan, and Best Actor for Liao Fan, at the event held on 12 April in Beijing.

Judges also praised Liao's performance in the movie as "extremely balanced between firmness and flexibility".

Meanwhile, Gong Li finally grabbed a Best Actress accolade for her role in "Coming Home", and Lou Ye was named Best Director for his work in "Blind Massage".
