A 51-year-old man died in hospital early Saturday morning after being found with an injured 47-year-old man in a back alley in Geylang.

On Friday night, the two men, believed to be brothers, were found by police in an alley off Lorong 11 Geylang, and were understood to have been in a gang fight, reported The Straits Times.

Police received a call at 11.27pm about a fight in the area. The older man was pronounced dead two hours later at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while the younger victim is still warded.

The case has been classified as murder and investigations are still ongoing.

Separately, some 160 women were arrested in a vice sting operation conducted by the police in the outskirts of the Central Business District (CBD).

Aged between 18 and 36, they were suspected to be involved in vice-related activities and other immigration offences, reported the same paper.

Some 158 officers from the Central Police Division, Criminal Investigation Department, Police Licensing Division and the Central Narcotics Bureau were involved in the six-hour raid.

Acting commander of Central Police Division, deputy assistant commissioner Adrian Quek, commended the Home Team officers on their excellent teamwork.

"Police will continue with our efforts to clamp down on illegal activities within entertainment outlets," he said.

According to police, the joint-operation targeted "errant entertainment outlets" at Jalan Besar, Havelock Road, Jalan Sultan and South Bridge Road. Investigations against the women are ongoing.
