The hefty medical bills of Thai teenager Nitcharee Peneakchanasak has been kindly paid by the Rotary E-Club of Singapore on Wednesday.

The club presented a S$45,022 cheque to Tan Tock Seng Hospital to pay for Nitcharee's hospital bills. The 14-year-old lost both her legs after she was hit by a train in April at Ang Mo Kio MRT station.

According to Channel News Asia, the money used comes from a S$50,000 donation made by an anonymous Singaporean. The donor is said to be a property tycoon based in Hong Kong and he was impressed by the cheerful teenager.

The remaining S$5,000 will be donated to her on 30 June.
