A photo showing allegedly “naked and drunk foreign workers” at Bugis MRT station has gained buzz after it was shared on local blog The Real Singapore on Thursday.

According to the person who shared it, known as Tamila Boyz, the photo shows five out of about seven “foreign workers” sleeping at the train station on New Year's Day, one of whom was appearing indecent.

“These workers were lying half naked at Bugis MRT Station after ushering in the New Year after 4am…one of the men had even pulled his pants down around his ankles and exposing his penis to the public before falling asleep,” the person said, adding that Tamila and friends were passing by the station to check timings for the first train when they saw the brow-raising scene.

The post has been shared over 5,000 times via Facebook and over 100 people have commented on it.

While many commenters decried the behaviour of the subjects in the photo, some online users tried to put the scene in perspective.

A Serenne Teng noted that it was probably an “isolated incident” given that it was New Year’s Eve and people in high spirits were bound to get carried away.

“While we can celebrate with our families & love[d] ones in restaurants /parties, they probably can only buy a few cans [and] drink among themselves. The above scene is also no different from those drunk from the Siloso parties or the usual weekend clubbing crowds.”

Yahoo Singapore has contacted the Land Transport Authority for comment.
