Employers welcome setting up nurseries but face constraints, says minister – Bernama

The government's incentives to encourage employers to set up nurseries at the workplace has been well received, but some cannot implement it due to space constraints.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said among the reasons were the employers did not provide a nursery was that the workplace building did not meet the safety criteria of the fire brigade.

However, Rohani said employers who could not provide the nurseries at the required levels in the office could rent a nearby location so that parents could send their children there.

"Maybe they can rent a place next to the office because the safety features are very important," she said when winding up the debate on her ministry on the motion of thanks on the Royal Address by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Dewan Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur today.

Meanwhile, Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob when winding up the debate on his ministry said for now, the government had no plans to develop abandoned swampy areas as padi cultivation land. – Bernama, March 25, 2015.
