Ahead of Singapore’s golden jubilee on 9 August, here’s a look at the famous faces who share the same birthday month as our nation.

Zed Lee

He’s the most famous toddler locally to be born on 9 August, 2014. The firstborn of Singapore celebrity couple Fann Wong and Christopher Lee will more likely than not to be surrounded by designer gifts at his likely star-studded upcoming birthday party.

You might just get to meet the newborn son of Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling in person soon. As announced on her Facebook page, the 31 year-old MP had just given birth to her first child on Wednesday (5 August).

She will be defending her Macpherson seat at the upcoming elections; a little young one in her arms might just rally more support (and happy sighs) from the electorate. As of press time, the baby boy is still unnamed.

Dick Lee

He’s the man who penned that catchy ‘Home’ tune and will soon turn 58 come 24 August.

If you’re feeling nostalgic about Singapore songs, you’ll want to catch Lee’s upcoming one-night-only The Adventures of the Mad Chinaman Upsized show on 3 September. First staged in 1989, the musical will see Lee performing hits from his 40-year music career.

Wong Li-Lin

While you may not see the former television actress as often on screen, you can follow her on Instagram for uplifting quotes and cute pictures of her with her two kids. Wong now runs her own health and fitness brand and is also a health advisor. She will celebrate her 42nd birthday on 30 August.

After eking out a music career abroad in Taiwan (his first solo album was launched in October 2014), this Singapore actor seems set to stay mostly on home ground for a while, thanks to a recurring role on Tanglin, a 199-episode local television drama. He will turn 30 on 23 August.

The soon-to-be 29 years old actor (his birthday is on 19 August) is also an avid animal lover. Besides his frequent Instagram posts on animal adoption and campaigns against animal cruelty, the actor often shares plenty of photos of his dog Hoshi.

After shooting to fame with her iconic “aiyoyo” teacher role, the popular 49-year-old television actress (her birthday’s on 22 August) has since been in showbiz for 30 years.

What you might not know: Chen only recently took her first wedding photos with actor husband this July, thanks to their couple roles on new drama Life - Fear Not.

She told Channel NewsAsia that she had a fear of bridal gowns because of her multiple on-screen marriages, so she chose to skip the photoshoot when the pair got married in 1998.
