"Gone with the Bullets" to compete at the Berlinale

15 Jan – Chinese director Jiang Wen's "Gone with the Bullets" is set to compete in the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival.

According to CRI News, the movie, co-starring Jiang Wen, Ge You, Wen Zhang, and Shu Qi, will be competing in the main competition against other overseas' films including United Kingdom's "Mr. Holmes", starring Sir Ian McKellen and Laura Linney.

Meanwhile, Iranian movie "Taxi" and period drama "Queen of the Desert", starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Pattinson, will have their premiere at the event.

The 65th annual Berlin Film Festival will be running from 5 to 15 February, and its complete programme will be announced next week.

"Gone with the Bullets", which is also the follow-up to Jiang Wen's 2010 film "Let the Bullet's Fly", is set in 1920s Shanghai. It centres on a beauty pageant and the series of tragic events that happened when an unexpected contestant wins the competition.

The film had earned RMB507.08 million (approximately USD81.8 million) at the Chinese box office by 9 January 2015.
