Gordon-Levitt aims "The Snowden Files" lead

22 Sep – It has been reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has expressed an interest to play the lead role of Oliver Stone's upcoming film, "The Snowden Files" which is based on American computer professional, Edward Snowden who had leaked classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) back in 2013.

In June this year, Stone had bought the rights of a novel based on Snowden's life written by his Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena titled, "Time of the Octopus".

"The Snowden Files" film will be based on "Time of The Octopus" and also a 2014 book by Luke Harding, "The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man".

Stone will be directing and scripting the film and he will also produce it along side Eric Kopeloff and Moritz Borman.

Edward Snowden is an American computer professional who leaked classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) back in 2013. He currently resides in an undisclosed location in Russia and is seeking asylum via the European Union.

Gordon-Levitt currently has two upcoming projects in 2015; "The Walk", where he plays a high-wire artiste named Philippe Petit and the "Untitled Christmas Eve Project" with Seth Rogen produced by Sony.

If the deal between Gordon-Levitt and Stone is officially sealed, the film will be expected to begin shooting this coming December in Munich.
