HKL ready for post-mortem examinations on the 37 bus crash victims – Bernama

The Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) is ready to conduct post-mortem examinations on the bodies of the 37 victims who were killed in the Genting Highlands bus tragedy yesterday.

Health deputy director-general Datuk Dr S. Jeyaindran said five pathologists and eight medical officers from HKL's Forensics Unit were making preparations to undertake the task with the help of support staff.

"With this staff strength, four post-mortems can by done simultaneously at any one time. Now we are just waiting for instructions from the police to carry out the post-mortems once all the bodies arrive," he said.

So far 20 bodies have been brought to HKL's mortuary, 10 more on the way while the remaining bodies are being extricated from the crash site.

Sixteen others were injured, some critically. – Bernama, August 22, 2013.
