Korean 'Hallyu' fans scorned

29 Jul – Honesty is not always the best policy. Due to several honest comments about the "Hallyu Wave" hitting Japan, Japanese actor Takaoka Sousuke has learned the consequences of his words.

Allkpop website reported that due to his provocative comments, the actor was fired from his entertainment agency, Stardust Promotion.

In a series of tweets he posted on his Twitter account, he expressed his feelings over leaving the agency. He stated, "I was fired from Stardust Promotion. Because of a single mistake, it caused trouble to everyone related to the agency.

I feel that this was a logical consequence. Thank you, everyone who supported me".

He went on to say that he would not be making any protests stating, "I'm not hoping to be viewed as a wise person. I hope the citizens will make their own wise decisions."

He also added, "I'm scared that there will be made-up reports of my fall from grace, but I'll take the criticism that comes my way. Those of us in Japan who have yet to catch on will believe those reports. Please remember that I will not, 120 per cent, commit suicide."

The matter was triggered on 24 July when the actor tweeted, "I used to be indebted to Fuji TV in the past, but now I'm suspicious that they may actually be a Korean network" and "I'm questioning about what country I'm in, as well", sharing his controversial opinions about the flooding of Korean dramas on Japanese television.

However, he explained, "It troubles me because I feel like I am being brainwashed", and "Since we're in Japan, I would like to see Japanese programs. I get scared every time I hear the word, 'Hallyu'".
