Man saved from suicide attempt at Bedok Reservoir

It could have been the seventh body found in the past six months at the now infamous reservoir.

A 42-year-old Chinese man was rescued by two joggers when he attempted to commit suicide at Bedok Reservoir Park in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, local media reports reveal.

Police said the Singaporean man, whose identity was not revealed, has been arrested for attempted suicide.

A spokesperson for the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Yahoo! Singapore that they received a call at about 5:20am requesting for assistance at the reservoir.

The caller, one of the two joggers, claimed to have saved a drowning man.

According to citizen journalism website STOMP, the duo – James and Philip – first noticed something amiss when they “saw a little head and hands struggling on the reservoir's horizon”.

After hearing cries for help, Philip jumped into the waters and saved the man while James called the police, according to the site.

The SCDF arrived within ten minutes and found no visible injuries on the drenched man. He was later taken to Changi General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
